Hello Jill. Just to congratulate you on two fine concerts in Thetford last weekend. The Sunday afternoon crowd in the square were roasting in the sun but they enjoyed your set. Those who had tickets for Saturday were very lucky. The whole weekend was good fun.
I didn't remember that it was from your site that I got your CD. but I found your site easily enough. I'll have to get better 1940's kit if I'm to go to another event you have listed this Summer/Autumn. I'm looking at ROUGHAM AIRFIELD Bury St Edmunds. Do you think it'll be a good one? Jim

YOUR MESSAGE: Dear Jill
I know it has been a long time coming but I would like to thank you for entertaining us all
at my parents Diamond Wedding Anniversary on the Island.
I have to say your performance was outstanding and what a personable charisma you have,
even the Major plays a jolly good part!
Mum and Dad, Jean and Charlie were over the moon, to see them both that evening was as if the years had drifted away.
Mum had had a stroke 12 months before and I don't think anyone thought they would ever see her dance again.
We play your "Hits of the Blitz" CD regularly in our restaurant, its very popular with all young and old
and receive a mountain of requests to purchase so hope you've had some orders.
Once again Jill our heartfelt thanks for a superb performance and making a celebratory weekend finish with a BANG!!!!!!!
Kind Regards to you and the Major

RE: Flight Lietenant Albert Edward Gregory 90th Birthday
Dear Jill
Just to let you know that Albert appreciates very much your good wishes.
We had a great day, someone made a cake with a Blenheim on it and the 219
squadron crest, and through a bit of skulduggery on my behalf I managed to
get letters of congratulations sent from the Air Chief Marshall, Mayor of
Derby, Lord Tebbitt and Prince Charles. He’ll have to wait to make it to 100 before he gets one from the Queen!
Theres a pretty good chance of that, he’s still very active, fit and well
Thanks again Nick Gregory

I just happened upon your website this morning.
I am a United States Sailor and am far from my home and my family,

We will invite you again to Shustoke I know we will have a sell out event if you agree to return.

My name is Nabonazar Cogollo, I am a philosopher and reader from the
Universidad Nacional de Colombia. And I study anthems and hymns from all
countries of the world. Your Rule Britannia´s version made me cry. It´s too
beautiful and sollemnous. I think why that marvellous song is not the UK
National Anthem?? During an annual celebration of the Colchester Tattoo
(1955, prox.) the participant bands of the Royal Navy played a quik version
of the Colombian National Anthem, previous auctorization from my government.
That was great! and great is the Rule Britannia sang by you. Congrats. May I

Thanks

Thank you for your wonderful website.
I'm providing the music for a radio play "Ruggles of Red Gap" starring Michael York
to be performed live in front of an audience in Hollywood,
California and recorded for broadcast on XM radio. The director asked me to use "There'll Always Be An England" for certain scenes and musical bridges and I was not familiar with the song.
Finding it on your site was a godsend!
Wish you were here in the US so we could work together! Your show sounds wonderful!!

Dear Jill, (14/05/2006)
I have been very fortunate to discover and purchase your Hits of the Blitz CD.
I am a local Parish Councillor and we are holding a tea for over 80 yr olds this Saturday
to celebrate the Queen's 80th birthday.
We are going to use your CD for the guests to sing along to.
However we would desperately like to include Rule Britannia,
which of course is not on the CD that we have.
Although I have tried to download it, I do not have sophisticated equipment and
therefore, cannot do it properly.
My reason for this e-mail is to enquire whether you have a recording
that can be bought and,if so, if there is any way I can obtain it by Saturday?
I would be grateful for an urgent reply by e-mail or telephone.
Thank you for the fabulous CD that we have.

and people that came said how lovely and different it was.
Thank you Jill for the extra time you sang - and thank you both for being so lovely.

Until then look after yourselves and thank you again for making it such a good night.

I am writing to tell you that I was surprised to see where this CD came from.
In the 1960s I lived in Sylvan Way LFE as I was in the County Police Force at the time.
I ordered the CD to play at my sister's 60 wedding anniversary.
In 1946 she married an RAF Flight Sergeant Navigator
who she met while he was stationed Braunstone and Desford air bases.
It really is a small world isn't it.

I just wanted to write and thank you for your wonderful performance on Saturday night for my 40th Birthday Party.
I know it was only a small venue, but your show was terrific. I have had non-stop compliments about the evening,
everyone had a thoroughly good time.
Most importantly, my Gran (who turned 92 last week) sang her heart out, bless her and said she had never enjoyed anything so much for a long time. Its thanks to her I have a love of those songs and that era. I spent alot of my childhood singing along with her.
I can only thank my best friend Lisa for arranging this "surprise" for me.

Dear Jill,
I have just received your letter with photographs taken at Morecambe Ex-Servicemens Club
For the first time in my advancing years I have become a "Groupie" (smiles), but the fact is, and
to explain my enthusiasm and appreciation, in my opinion no artiste can compare with the
personality and style of your performance - even a thousand times better than dear Dame Vera,
which reminds me to tell you that I/we obtained the Fred Vogels Thanksgiving ball video DVD
taken at the Ramada hotel Maidsone.
I fully support and appreciate the tributes of people like yourself,
as outlined in the End of WWII 60th Anniversary Commemoration leaflet.
Having an uncle who returned from WWI army service minus his right arm,
and a cousin RAMC para trouper who lost an eye at Arnhem during WWII
I shall shortly have developed the film containing several shots taken during the evennings
10 and 11 September and will send copies to you
Meanwhile thank you both so much for the entertainment
you gave us at Morecambe Ex Servicemens Club, Jack and I couldn't have enjoyed it more.

Hello Jill. Stan & I, The Past Its (Well & Truly) followed you on stage today.
I just want you to know that I enjoyed your show. All the old war songs took me back to the 1940s.
I was 11 years of age when the war started so it all played a very important part in my life.
When I was 16, and at a difficult time of development,
my brother was killed after the Normandy Invasion.
He left behind his wife and two children: 1 and 3 years of age. It was a terrible period of my life. I thought of my brother as you were on stage.
You looked as if you thoroughly enjoyed singing all the old songs.
Many, many thanks.
And thanks for the photo, I will use in the next George Formby Newsletter. Cheers, Stan Evans.
